When I read about those who sacrificed their lives for a higher purpose and dedicated themselves to the betterment of mankind, I often feel so little of myself. How do we rise above our own selves—not remain confined to our personal problems, but learn to think about the suffering of all humanity: hunger, hatred, and indifference?
Yes, I feel scared by the changes happening in the world today. More often than not, the news speaks of violence rather than peace. And yet, I am also aware that many people—friends and strangers alike—are working tirelessly to build a safer and kinder world.
I just wish that my courage may always be stronger than my fear.
I am not a little girl, yet I may feel shy,
It’s okay to be afraid—just don’t let courage pass by.
Fear may knock softly, but I choose to rise,
And learn to see strength through my trembling eyes.
I open my heart, let love step inside,
Here is the light—let’s share it and make it shine bright
