Courage

Courage can be a single spark,
a one-time leap into the dark—
you gather strength, choose one bold line,
and fall or fly in your own time.
It feels like triumph… or a foolish start,
a roaring fire or a trembling heart.

But harder still is the quieter kind:
the courage to try, day after day,
with no clear answers in the mind,
with pain that will not slip away.
When fear hangs heavy like unmoving clouds,
and even the rain holds mysteries—
hope, or storms that split the shrouds.

Yet still you move, because you must,
with shaking breath and stubborn trust.
You pray, you place your faith in God,
though your racing heart is yet unawed.
All you want is peace to stay,
a calm that doesn’t slip away.

But when no path is clear or kind,
you choose the strength you cannot find—
you carry on through ache and doubt,
enduring till the truth comes out.

For sometimes courage is simply this:
to stand, to wait, to hope, persist.
